How the anti-drone laser system works
The anti-drone system combines multiple layers of detection and neutralisation technologies to intercept threats before they can cause damage.Matthew “Whiz” Buckley, a former Navy Top Gun pilot, explained that the system uses sensors, radar, and electronic warfare tools alongside laser weapons.“All of those things that you’re seeing are sensors, their radar and their jammers to be able to bring down any drone or counter air threat,” Buckley said.The system first detects and tracks incoming drones using radar and sensor arrays. Once identified, it can deploy electronic jamming to disrupt the drone’s communication systems and navigation.“They can use lasers to shoot drones down, and they can also use direct energy to scramble the electronics and to jam the systems to knock these drones down,” Buckley said.The laser weapon itself is a direct energy beam, invisible to the naked eye, that can disable or destroy drones mid-air by heating critical components.

You just haven’t seen it,” Ingram said.He added that the visibility of such systems now reflects rising threat levels.“Well, I think we had a situation in escalation of the threats against the president. We’re at war as a nation, and this is a defensive posture that the US military does. This is what they do to protect the liberties and the freedom of the American people and defend the president,” Ingram said.
